Tagbubonga

  • About The Barangay

During World War II, this place was just a forest. Two men were captured by the Japanese Army for stealing fruit from the trees. After a few days, the Japanese realized the men were simply hungry and released them.
At that time, the people in this barangay were starving. They had no farms to grow food. When the two men returned, they told their neighbors about a place in the forest with plenty of fruits. The news brought joy to the starving community.
Soon, everyone agreed to visit this place together to gather fruit. As they met again and again at this location, they decided to cultivate some of the forest land for farming.
This barangay's name reflects both the act of gathering ("tagbu") and the abundance of fruit trees ("bonga"). Hence, the name Barangay Tagbubonga.
