Tag-amakan

Tag-amakan is a barangay of the Municipality of Asturias in the province of Cebu in Central Visayas which is part of the Visayas group of Islands.
Tag-amakan belongs to the barangays of Municipality of Asturias which are in the outlying area. The place Tag-amakan was named after "amakan" a woven bamboo strips used as a walling materials form house. The place was very ideal for farming making it was a reason why many people lived in the place before. They made houses mostly made of amakan. The village was soon called amakanan, and the villagers were called "Tag-amakan" As time goes by. The palce was called Tag-amakan.
It remained rural wherein Tag-amakan belongs to upland barangays. According to the RBI records of 2023, it has a total population of 888 with a total number of households of meter. The barangay composed of 6 villages namely, Village 1 proper, Village 2 upper DAA, Village 3 lower DAA, Village 4 upper proper, Village 5 Ay-Ay, Village 6 Asiotes
General Description and Characteristics, Barangay Tag-amakan in terms of their source of living farmer’s plant, root crops, com, rice, banana, and coconut and many others that is useful especially in their daily consumption.
