OPEN GOVERNMENT PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE

July 22, 2025

DILG-7 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Civil Society Organization (CSO) partners Ms. Hope Minor and Ms. Jessebel del Puerto visited the Municipality of Asturias to conduct a focused group discussion (FGD) aimed at documenting local best practices aligned with the OGP principles of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.
Before the FGD, the CSO visitors paid a courtesy call to Mayor Dana Andrew Dumdum and Vice Mayor Reine Yaras, expressing appreciation for the LGU’s active support and steadfast commitment to open and participatory governance.
The FGD gathered valuable insights from key local stakeholders including MLGOO Dr. John Michael Monillas, MPDC EnP Ivy Daisy Tapdasan, CSO Desk Officer Dave Feriols, and CSO Representative Ms. Marichu Logarta.
Atty. Annaliza Jayme and Dr. Keith Michael Jann Alasco, advocates of some of the municipality’s notable good practices, shared highlights of the initiatives that promote people participation, volunteerism, and a proactive, grassroots-driven approach—namely, the “Asturias Dumdumon Ta Barangay Tinabangay” and the “Asturias Dumdumon Ta Caravan of Services.”
The session showcased Asturias’ proactive efforts in strengthening participatory governance and inclusive local development planning.
DILG-7, together with DILG Asturias, continues to promote collaborative governance by empowering communities and strengthening partnerships with CSOs in pursuit of a more open, transparent, and responsive local government.
