Today, August 31, 2026, the Municipality of Asturias joins the nation in commemorating National Heroes Day, observed every last Monday of August pursuant to Republic Act No. 9492, with its historical observance tracing back to Act No. 3827 of 1931.

We honor the courage and sacrifices of the Filipinos who fought for the freedom and dignity we enjoy today. But remembrance must also come with responsibility.

Their legacy challenges every modern Filipino: What are we doing with the freedom they gave us?

Heroism today may be found in choosing integrity, serving others, standing for what is right, and putting country and community above self-interest.

May we honor our heroes not only by remembering their names, but by living as Filipinos worthy of their sacrifices.
