Mayor Dongkoy Expressed His Gratitude To MSWDO-Asturias

July 31, 2023

JUST IN I Under the strong dedicated efforts of the Municipality of Asturias Social Welfare & Development headed by Marianee S. Garbiel and the municipal mayor Dongkoy Dumdum, Asturias has made significant strides in combating trafficking and violence against women and children. Only six Municipalities received the award in the Province of Cebu. The LCAT-VAWC has worked tirelessly to implement effective strategies, programs, and initiatives to address these critical issues, ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.

The ideal functionality status is a testament to the Municipality’s adherence to the guidelines set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD 7) and the Department of Justice (DOJ 7). It serves as recognition for Asturias’ exemplary performance and commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of women and children.

The LCAT-VAWC has been instrumental in raising awareness, providing support services, and conducting various activities to prevent and respond to cases of trafficking and violence. These include capacity-building workshops, advocacy campaigns, community dialogues, and collaborative efforts with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders.

Mayor Dongkoy expressed his gratitude to MSWDO-Asturias and all those involved in achieving this significant milestone. He emphasized the Municipality’s unwavering dedication to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all residents, especially women and children.

Asturias Municipality encourages everyone to continue supporting the LCAT-VAWC’s initiatives and to report any cases of trafficking or violence against women and children promptly. By working together, we can create a community where everyone feels safe, protected, and empowered.
