During the meeting held at the Capitol conference room on October 21, Assistant Provincial Administrator Aldwin Empaces said that the youth remained one of the key priorities of Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro, assuring them that the Cebu Provincial Government will continue to craft and implement programs and projects that are responsive to the needs, talents, and aspirations of young Cebuanos.
Capitol Chief of Staff Charlton James Canoy, former PYC executive director, expressed his joy in seeing familiar faces in the youth service, saying “one of the first Executive Orders of Governor Pam was dedicated to the youth.”
“Padayon ta kay Ato ang Sugbo ug padayon ang kabatan-onang Sugbo-anong nagpakabana,” he added.
The meeting was presided over by Pro Bono Consultant on Youth Marven Gorgonio, together with the Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan.
A representative from the National Youth Commission (NYC) was also present to provide guidance and clarification on the roles and responsibilities of the LYDOs, ensuring that local youth offices operate in line with national youth development policies and frameworks.
The gathering also highlighted the crucial role of LYDOs, who serve as the link between local governments and the youth sector—ensuring that youth concerns are integrated into local development plans, promoting participation in governance, and facilitating programs that foster leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement among young people.
Through this effort, youth leaders are encouraged to work together and to take an active role in building a better and more youthful Cebu. /CAPITOL PIO
