Looc Norte

Barangay Looc Norte is one of the Barangays in the Municipality of Asturias, Province of Cebu. It is located along the coastline. It is 72 km from Cebu City via Naga- uling road route and 49 km or 11/2 hour via Trancentral Highway thru a V-Hire. Barangay Looc Norte was once a part of Poblacion, Asturias, Cebu. In 1957 a bill was passed in Congress to make Looc Norte a barrio sponsored by the late Congressman of the 3rd District of Cebu, Hon. ANTONIO Y DE PIO, and it took three (3) years for Barangay Looc Norte to be separated from Poblacion and created a barrio by Republic Act 2876, wherein:
Section 1, provides that [t] he Sitio of Looc Norte in the Municipality of Asturias, Province of Cebu was converted into a barrio named Looc Norte. The said Law took effect on June 19, 1960 upon its approval.

Looc Norte got its name because of its curve coastline and during southwest monsoon small seacrafts seek refuge in this place. Looc Norte is also known as refuge of sea crafts.

Physical Characteristics

Barangay LOOC NORTE has a total area of 346.436 hectares with 4 Puroks. Boundaries: East - Barangay Langub, West - Barangay Poblacion, North Tañon Strait with "Balisang Taas" and "Balisang Pungkol", and South - Barangay San Isidro. Barangay LOOC NORTE has a total number of households of 808, total number of families total number of population 3,322 which 1,711 is male and 1611 is female as of 2023. It is classified as rural and coastal barangay.
