Today is the day 2 of the training and onboarding setup of the eLGU system in the town of Asturias in cooperation with the Local Government Unit (LGU) Asturias and the Department of Information and Communications Technology 7 (DICT).

eLGU is a digital platform where people can now process documents like applying for a business and mayor’s permit, obtaining a cedula, and requesting copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates — all just online.

The system is designed to make government services easier and faster, and to avoid long queues and multiple recurring transactions.

As of today, the system build-up officially began, and training will continue for five days until Friday. It is recognized as a major step in Asturias’s local government’s digitalization.
