October 2, 2026
Mayor Hon. Dana Andrew “Dongkoy” M. Dumdum met with officials and school heads of the Department of Education Asturias Districts 1 and 2 to discuss ongoing sports and cultural activities in the municipality and preparations related to the upcoming Cebu Provincial Sports and Cultural Festival 2026.
The meeting was participated in by Mrs. Maria Lourdes G. Ybanez, Public Schools District Supervisor of Asturias 1, and Dr. Arlene D. Buot, Public Schools District Supervisor of Asturias 2, together with school principals and school heads from the different schools under both districts.
Among the matters discussed were the coordination and implementation of current municipal sports and cultural programs, as well as the possible use and availability of school grounds, facilities, and other resources in Asturias in connection with the provincial sports and cultural festival to be hosted by the Municipality of Balamban this December 2026.
Mayor Dumdum expressed the Municipal Government’s continued support for the participation and preparation of Asturias athletes, performers, learners, coaches, and delegates. He also emphasized the importance of close coordination between the LGU and the education sector in providing the necessary venues, facilities, logistical assistance, and other forms of support needed for the municipality’s sports and cultural development initiatives.
The meeting further strengthened the partnership between the Municipal Government of Asturias and DepEd Asturias Districts 1 and 2, particularly in creating more opportunities for young Asturiasnons to develop their skills, talents, discipline, and appreciation for sports, culture, and the arts.
Through sustained collaboration among the LGU, schools, educators, coaches, and other stakeholders, Asturias continues to advance programs that encourage youth participation and proudly represent the municipality in provincial-level sporting and cultural activities.
