The Local Government Unit of Asturias conducted a surprise mandatory drug testing today, September 28, 2026, covering all elected municipal officials and LGU employees, regardless of employment status.

The activity forms part of the municipality’s continuing commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, professional, and drug-free workplace, while promoting accountability and responsibility among those entrusted with public service.

By subjecting officials and personnel alike to the same requirement, the LGU underscores that the standards expected in public service apply across all levels and positions in the organization.
