Lanao

There was no written record of when the barangay was first established. Its name came from the word" LANAO" which means "Linaw nga Tubig" meaning a body of water. There is an area in the Barangay that serves as catch basin during rainy season. The rain water remains on the surface of the area experiencing a period of low flow for more than a week after the rainfall.

Lanao is a Barangay in municipality of Asturias in the Province of Cebu. It is situated at approximately 10.5991, 123.8394, in the island of Cebu. Evaluation at these coordinates is estimated at 349.5 meters or 1,146.6 feet above mean sea level. Its population as determined by the 2023 census was 819. The population of Lanao grew from 587 in 1990 to 819 in 2023, an increase of 232 people over the course of 33 years.

Based on the RBI records of 2023 has the total populations of 819 (422 are males and 397 females) in seven puroks.

Barangay Lanao has the total land area of 307.54 hectares, where 153.54 hectares used in agriculture, 100 hectares in residential, while 54 hectares is for alienable and disposable land (A and D)

The Barangay is located in the North, in the map of the Municipality of Asturias, Cebu. It is 21.5 km away from the city/ municipal hall and it takes 49 minutes to reach the barangay hall. It is accessible by motorcycle of transportation to reach the area. It is bounded on the north by Municipality of Tuburan on the east City of Danao on the west Brgy. Banban and on the south Brgy. Baye.
