The Municipality of Asturias suspended the operation of a poultry farm for one (1) grow cycle due to continuous violations and poor condition of the facility.
According to a statement from the office of Mayor Dongkoy Dumdum, various inspections of Task Force Langaw have proven that the poultry farm is still in an impure and poor condition, despite previous instructions and recommendations given by the local government.
The issue began following a surprise inspection on April 15, 2025, which found the presence of numerous flies and poor sanitation at the facility. This was followed by subsequent inspections and monitoring, where requirements such as installing proper mesh or netting and other sanitary measures were not yet met.
Despite the poultry farm owner being given a chance via a public hearing on September 17, 2025, to continue the operation under the condition of following all recommendations, it still failed to full compliance.
Because of this, the local government has ordered “temporary no chick-in” in all farm buildings, meaning a new batch of chickens cannot be allowed inside a grow cycle. This is to allow the farm manager time to clean up, disinfection, and implement proper management practices.
It is also advised that this step is intended to avoid further trouble and possible health risks to the residents of Barangay Banban.
The LGU stated that inspection and verification will continue, and the farm operations will only be restored once all necessary conditions are completed.
