⬆ ₱129.00 plus monthly bill if 100 kWh consumption
The Effective Power Rate as of June 2026 for residential consumers consuming 100 kWh per month is ₱11.79/kWh, with an increase of ₱1.29/kWh compared to billing in May 2026.
📌 MGA IMPORTANTENG BUTANG NGA ANGAY HIBAW-AN
Many consumers have wondered why their electricity bills have risen in recent months, especially during the summer season, even as they observed that their electricity usage has not changed much.
It is important to understand that if the price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) goes up, it does not immediately mean that CEBECO III has increased the distribution charge.
✅ CEBECO III Distribution Charge still remains at ₱1.51/kWh and it has not changed.
The main reason for the change in electricity rates is Generation Charge, which is the amount of electricity purchased from power suppliers and the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
⚠️ Why did the Generation Charge go up?
By May 2026, the demand for electricity across the Visayas Grid will increase. Because of this, Yellow Alerts and Red Alerts have occurred, which means that the available power supply is very thin.
Due to supply shortages, power generators are forced to buy and use more expensive “replacement power” to meet consumer needs. This is the cause of the rising cost of generating and delivering electricity.
On June 9, CEBECO III announced that electricity rates have increased due to:
• Mas taas nga generation charges
• More expensive electricity prices in WESM
• Increasing the charges of other power suppliers
• Lack of supply during Yellow and Red Alerts in Visayas Grid
💡 In general
Rising electricity bills during the summer aren’t just for a reason. This is the result of:
✔ Higher demand for cooling appliances such as air conditioners and electric fans
✔ More electricity consumption in homes
✔ Lack of electricity supply in Visayas Grid
✔ Use more expensive power sources during alerts
✔ Increase in generation charges and WESM prices
Therefore, although the Distribution Charge of CEBECO III has not changed, the overall electricity rate may increase due to costs associated with electricity production and purchase.
🔌All consumers are urged to continue using electricity prudently and practice power conservation to help reduce consumption and monthly bills.
