July 7, 2026 | The City of Asturias, Cebu held the payout for 250 beneficiaries of TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers, a program of the Department of Labor and Employment that provides temporary livelihood for displaced, underserved, and disadvantaged workers.
The program was availed by beneficiaries from five barangays in the town, with around 50 beneficiaries per barangay. This includes Barangay Lanao, Langub, Banban, Tubigagmanok, and Agtugop.
For 15 days, beneficiaries fulfilled their service to the community through assigned tasks that helped maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and well-being of their respective barangays.
This payout was attended by Congresswoman Karen Hope Garcia, Congresswoman of the Third District of Cebu, together with her spouse and former Congressman Pablo John Garcia. Also present in the activity is Ms. Tess Mercado, Chief Labor and Employment Officer of the Department of Labor and Employment – Cebu Provincial Field Office.
Through TUPAD, people continue to bring government programs aimed at providing temporary jobs, additional income, and support to families in need. This is an important step towards strengthening the livelihoods of Asturias and providing opportunities to sectors that need assistance the most.
The local government expresses its deepest gratitude to the Department of Labor and Employment, to the office of Congresswoman Karen Hope Garcia, to the barangays involved in the program, and to all who stepped up to make the TUPAD payout a success to the beneficiaries in the town.
